GRANVILLE, Ohio-- In the third installment of the D3hoops.com Top-25 men's basketball poll, Denison moved from 25th to 16th after a pair of road wins over Oberlin and Wittenberg, last week.

The Big Red is off to scintillating start to the 2016-17 campaign at 8-0.  Highlights to the season have been a 65-59 road win over then No. 11 Wooster and Saturday's 72-68 overtime victory over Wittenberg in Springfield.

Denison is the only unbeaten team in the North Coast Athletic Conference and they are one of only 14 undefeated teams remaining out of 416 men's basketball teams at the Division III level of the NCAA.  The Big Red holds a one-game lead over second-place Ohio Wesleyan in the conference standings.  DU has logged conference wins over Wooster, Kenyon, Oberlin and Wittenberg while the Battling Bishops sit at 3-0 after victories over DePauw, Wabash and Oberlin.

Jett Speelman leads the Big Red with 19.1 points per game and 5.5 rebounds per contest.  David Meurer is scoring 12.5 points per game to go along with 3.5 assists per outing.  As a team, the Big Red is shooting 46 percent from the field, 37 percent from 3-point range.  They are also shooting 74 percent as a team from the free throw line.  In 41 attempts, Speelman has yet to miss from the charity stripe.  He is one of six players in the nation entering the week without a missed free throw.

On Wednesday, Denison travels to Bexley, Ohio for a non-conference game against Capital University.  The Crusaders are 6-3 and 2-1 in the Ohio Athletic Conference.  They are led in scoring by Tyrel Jackson's 14.6 ppg.  Last year, Denison handed Capital a 92-76 loss at Livingston Gymnasium.  DU has won three of their last four games against the Crusaders dating back to the 2011-12 season.
