GRANVILLE, Ohio-- The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) has announced that Denison University was the recipient of the 2016-17 Team Academic Excellence Award. In addition, six members of the Big Red were named to the NABC Honors Court.
In order to receive the NABC Team Academic Excellence Award, the team must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.00 or better for the season. Denison was one of only three North Coast Athletic Conference colleges to take home the award in 2016-17.
NABC Honors Court certificates went to seniors Andrew Castagnetti, David Meurer and Devon Pitts along with juniors Garrett Collier, Maxwell Siwik and Johnny Vernasco. The six honorees were also tops among NCAC institutions.
2016-17 marked the winningest season in program history as the Big Red finished the season with a 22-5 record and a 15-3 mark in the NCAC.
