ATLANTA--  Denison got 21 points from Matt Doyle and 14 points from Jack Coulter helping the Big Red to a 61-50 win over SUNY-Oswego on Sunday at the Emory Holiday Classic.  The victory sends Denison back to Ohio with two wins in two days at the tournament.

Oswego entered the contest with a 9-1 record and was ranked in the others receiving votes column of the most recent D3hoops.com Top-25 poll.

The Lakers held a 28-27 lead at halftime.  Back-to-back 3-pointers by Spencer Patenaude and Conor Fenton gave the Big Red the spark they were looking for.  It was the key part of a 12-2 Denison run that gave Denison a 41-33 lead with 10 minutes to play.

Oswego trimmed the Denison lead to seven with 4:46 remaining after Joe Sullivan split a pair of free throws.  After a steal by Jake Livingston gave the ball back to the Big Red, Doyle's 3-point try late in the shot clock was off the mark, but Livingston was there for the offensive rebound, giving DU a new shot clock.

With a second chance to put the game on ice, Doyle came up spades, sinking a 3-pointer from the elbow to put his squad up 56-44.

Oswego was averaging 79.2 points per game and its 50-point output was its lowest of the season.  For the second-straight game, Denison shot over 40 percent from beyond the arc while reaching double-digits in 3-point field goals made.

Coulter was 4-of-10 from long range and Doyle was 3-for-6.  Doyle's 21 points were a season high.  Fenton added five points and seven rebounds in 17 minutes off the bench.  Livingston and Kevin Cheng chipped in six points for DU.

Oswego was led in scoring by Allen Durutovic's 13 points and eight rebounds in 27 minutes off the bench.

Denison shot 41 percent from the field (22-of-54) and was 12-of-30 from long range.  The Big Red committed only 11 turnovers and held a 37-33 advantage on the boards.

The Big Red returns to North Coast Athletic Conference action on Thursday, Jan. 3 when they travel to No. 11 Wittenberg at 7 p.m.
