GAMBIER, Ohio-- Denison connected on 13, 3-pointers and shot 58 percent from the field in an 87-70 victory over Kenyon College on Saturday at Tomsich Arena.
The Big Red shot a blistering 67 percent from long range in the first half (8-of-12) as Jack Coulter came out firing on all cylinders, going 3-for-5 from beyond the arc in the first 20 minutes of play. Denison took a 10-point lead into the locker room and expanded that lead to as many as 25 halfway through the second half.
Coulter led DU with 17 points on 6-of-8 shooting in 21 minutes of action. Conor Fenton scored 11 points and paced the Big Red with nine rebounds in only 18 minutes. Matt Doyle added 10 points and finished with five assists. First-year guard Kevin Cheng chipped in nine points, all from long range.
Carter Powell led Kenyon with 16 points and seven rebounds. Matt Shifrin followed with 13 points.
With the win, Denison improves to 6-12 and 3-9 in the North Coast Athletic Conference. The Big Red returns to Livingston Gymnasium for a 7:30 p.m. tipoff against Wittenberg on Wednesday (Jan. 30). On Jan. 3, Denison handed then 11th ranked Wittenberg a 72-66 defeat in Springfield.
