SANDUSKY, OHIO – Denison men's golf returned to the Plum Brook Country Club on Sunday afternoon for the rain-shortened final round of the Battle at the Brook men's golf tournament hosted by Ohio Wesleyan. Finishing in a tie for fifth place with Mount St. Joseph, the pair's team scores of 460 finished just one stroke shy of fourth-place Thomas More College, and five strokes back of Kalamazoo College in third place. Kenyon College claimed the tournament championship with a team score of 443.

With the field only playing the back nine holes on Sunday afternoon for a total of 27 holes for the weekend, the Big Red were led by junior Christian Early who placed ninth overall with an abbreviated two-round score of 111, just four strokes over par.

After leading the DU scorers after day one, freshman Cal Buonocore finished the weekend with a 114, good for seven-over par and a tie for 12th place. Finishing just one stroke behind Buonocore was fellow freshman Ben Scherman, who shot a second-round 39 to land in a tie for 14th place with a 115.

Senior Nick Brodbeck rounded out the Denison team score with a 121 through two rounds, earning a tie for 32nd, while Connor Holleran placed 39th overall with a 125.

Competing as individuals, freshman Marc Mitchell led all DU golfers with a two-over par 109 in fourth place overall. Sophomore Will Grady shot a four-over par in the second round to finish the tournament in a tie for 30th (120).

The Big Red will return to the links next Saturday through Sunday, September 15-16 when they head to Apollo, Pa. to take part in the Carnegie Mellon Fall Shoot Out at the Links at Spring Church.
