DANVILLE, Ky.--  Denison men's golf holds a five-stroke lead at the midway point of the Centre Fall Invitational.  The Big Red fired a two-under-par 286 on Saturday at Danville Country Club.  Hanover sits in second place at 291 followed by Franklin (297), Gettysburg (303), Centre (309) and Berea (320).

Marc Mitchell led the field with a three-under-par round of 69.  The sophomore closed out his round with birdies on the final three holes.  In all, he posted five birdies on the day, going out in 35 and coming in at 34.

Ben Scherman and Sam Davis carded even-par rounds of 72 to tie for fifth place on the overall leaderboard.  Scherman also found success on the back nine, with birdies on the par-4 14th, the par-5 17th and the par-4 18th

Davis' round was highlighted by a three-under-par 33 on the back nine that got him back to level par on the day.

Christian Early checked in with Denison's fourth score on the afternoon with a one-over-par 73.  Early bounced back from a double bogey on No. 1 to play the final 17 holes at -1.

Denison's fifth score was a 79 fired by first-year Jack Lindgren.  The team total of 286 matches the Big Red's season-low set at the Rhodes Fall Collegiate Classic on Sept. 23.  It is tied for the fourth-lowest 18-hole total in team history.

Denison will close out the Centre Fall Invitational with an 18-hole round on Sunday.
