CLEVELAND, Ohio – Sophomore Marc Mitchell was named the North Coast Athletic Conference Golfer of the Week for the second time in his career on Monday after posting an All-Tournament performance this past week at the O'Briant-Jensen Memorial in Greensboro, N.C.
Helping the Big Red finish in a tie for seventh for the tournament, Mitchell was named to the All-Tournament team after tying for third place with a second-round 68 (-3), his second-lowest score of the season. Mitchell fired a -2 34 on the back nine thanks to a streak of four consecutive birdies on holes 11-14. He led the 120-player field with 11 birdies across 36 holes to finish with a two-round total of 140 (-2). His 67 during the second round of the Tim Kopka Memorial Tournament at Carthage (Sept. 7) is currently the lowest score on the team this season.
Competing in all 11 rounds during DU's 2019 fall season, Mitchell has posted an average score of 72.6, including a pair of top-five finishes at the O'Briant-Jensen and the Centre Fall Invitational (Oct. 5-6).
The Big Red rounded out the fall season with a national ranking while winning one tournament and logging top-four finishes in three other tournaments.
