GRANVILLE, Ohio – For the third-consecutive week, the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) has recognized Denison University on its NCAA Division III Team of the Week, naming junior FOGO Henry DeCamp to the squad.
After sophomore attackman Peter Pittroff earned the honor in back-to-back weeks, DeCamp garnered recognition when he broke two varsity records in a 16-2 victory over DePauw University on Saturday, March 10.
His perfect 21-for-21 on faceoffs against the Tigers broke Warner Seibert's single-game record of 18 that was set back in 2005. He also scooped up 20 ground balls on the day, breaking Kurt Himy's 32-year-old school record of 18 ground balls against Mount Union back in 1986. Including 13 faceoff wins in an 18-1 win over Albion College on Wednesday, March 7, DeCamp finished the week with an impressive faceoff percentage of .944 (34-of-36).
The pair of wins also helped the Big Red jump up to No. 2 in the most recent USILA Top-20 Coaches Poll, their highest ascension in the rankings since the NCAA era of lacrosse began in 1974. Since 2016, Denison boasts a record of 41-4 (.911) with five NCAA Tournament victories.
DU has posted three wins over top-20 ranked opponents so far this season, and the level of difficulty will be no different this weekend. At Stevenson University in Owings Mills, Md. this Friday through Saturday, March 16-17, the Big Red will play No. 12 Amherst College on Friday at 5:30 p.m. and then take on No. 13 Dickinson College at the same time on Saturday afternoon.
