GRANVILLE, Ohio-- Denison men's lacrosse team is ranked No. 9 in the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Division III preseason Top-20 Coaches poll.

The Big Red face a tough challenge this season in their efforts to win their fourth-straight North Coast Athletic Conference championship and reach the NCAA playoffs once again. Last season, the Big Red finished 16-4, climbing as high as No. 2 in the national rankings after starting the season 5-0.

The Big Red is set to square off against six nationally ranked teams this season with their first three games being against No. 12 Washington and Lee (Home - Feb. 16), No. 18 Stevenson (Home – Feb. 23), and No. 15 Roanoke (Away -  Mar. 2). After an NCAC matchup with DePauw, the team will travel to Owings Mills, Md. for their annual spring break trip where they will compete against No. 10 Dickinson (Mar. 15) and No. 17 Franklin & Marshall (Mar. 16). The Big Red will finish the regular season against No. 11 Ohio Wesleyan on April 27 in Delaware, Ohio.

The Big Red returns three USILA All-Americans in junior attackman Peter Pittroff, senior midfielder Jake Waxter, and senior face-off specialist Henry DeCamp. Pittroff, a second-team selection in 2018, is looking to build off a dominant sophomore season that saw him total 33 goals and 74 assists. Waxter led all DU midfielders with 31 goals, 11 assists, and 42 points. DeCamp ranked eighth in Division III with a .690 win percentage (272-394) and paced the team with 152 ground balls.

Denison opens the season Saturday, Feb. 16 against Washington and Lee at Deeds Field at Piper Stadium in Granville, Ohio at 1 p.m.  The Denison Sports Network will provide live video of the contest beginning at 12:45 p.m.
