WILMINGTON, Ohio -- Led by a pair of first-half goals from freshman Braden Adamson and sophomore Luke Summers, Denison men's soccer opened the 2018 Kiwanis Classic with a 2-0 win over Adrian College at Wilmington College's Williams Stadium on Friday evening.

Outshooting the Bulldogs 16-9 on the night, including an 8-3 ratio in the second half, it was the first 45 minutes of play that saw the Big Red find the back of the net in multiple ways.

Following back-to-back saves from Denison's sophomore goalkeeper Dylan Brown at the 17:43 mark, the Big Red reeled off four consecutive shots to keep the pressure on the Adrian defense. DU capitalized on that pressure just over 26 minutes in as Adamson accepted a pass from Ryan Albers and headed the ball into the top left corner from 12 yards out.

Taking an early 1-0 advantage, the Big Red wasted little time in extending their lead on the next shot as Leo Herard sent a cross to Summers who finished DU's second goal of the night just off the left post. The goal gave Denison a 2-0 lead entering intermission.

Totaling the first two shots of the second half from senior Adrian Miller, the Big Red opened the final 45 minutes with a 4-1 shot advantage over Adrian. Denison's advantage continued throughout the half as DU tallied their first win of the season and improved their all-time record over Adrian to 5-0-1.

Leading the Denison charge was Adamson's one goal on three shots throughout the evening. Summers, Miller, Brandon Kozak, and Stu Windell finished the match with two shots each. The Bulldogs were led by Garrett Miller and Zachary Roller, who combined for seven shots, five of which were on goal.

In goal, DU's Brown recorded his first clean sheet of the season, saving all five shots on goal from Adrian in 90 minutes of action for the win. For the Bulldogs, Spencer Brown finished a full 90 minutes of play with four saves.

The Big Red will return to Williams Stadium for day two of the Kiwanis Classic on Saturday, September 8 as they are set to play tournament host Wilmington College at 7:30 p.m.
