OBERLIN, Ohio – Thanks to a game-winning goal off the head of senior David Jaben in the 73rd minute, Denison men's soccer earned their second North Coast Athletic Conference victory on Wednesday evening with a 2-1 win over Oberlin College at OC's Knowlton Complex.

Despite being outshot 12-9 on the night, the Big Red totaled four of the first six shots of the match, including the game's first goal at 14:51 when juniors Ryan Albers and Matt Rush connected on a crossing feed to Braden Adamson who finished with a shot in the back of the net for his second goal of the season and to put DU in front, 1-0.

Leading the Yeomen 1-0 with less than two minutes to play in the first half, Oberlin fired the final two shots of the period but were unable to connect as Denison carried their 1-0 advantage into intermission.

OC's late push in the opening frame continued in the second half when the Yeomen scored on their eighth shot of the night when Michael Candelori accepted a pass from Nic Jandeleit in the 52nd minute and sent it past DU's keeper Dylan Brown to tie the match at 1-1.

Over the next 20:53 of play, both sides combined for only two shots, but at the 72:19 mark, sophomore Luke Summers sent a free kick inside the box for Jaben to head in and give the Big Red a 2-1 advantage with less than 18 minutes to play.

In the final 17:41, the Yeomen outshot the Big Red 3-1, but Denison prevailed and improved to 4-6-1 overall and 2-1-1 in NCAC play.

DU's Brandon Kozak led the match with four total shots, including one shot on goal. Adamson and Jaben each finished with two shots. OC's Jadeleit collected a team-high three shots, while Julian Klingen, Ben Kessler, and Jiadi Cheng totaled two shots apiece.

In goal, Brown paced the Big Red with three saves over 90 minutes of work while Oberlin's Fiachra McDonagh finished with one save in a full match effort.

Winning three of their last four matches, Denison returns to Barclay-Thomsen Field on Saturday, October 13 to host Wittenberg University at 1 p.m. for Senior Day in Granville.
