DELAWARE, Ohio--  On Saturday night Denison stunned Ohio Wesleyan with a 2-1 victory on their home field to advance to the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament.  On Wednesday, the Battling Bishops returned the favor, defeating the Big Red, 2-1 in the semifinals of the NCAC Tournament.

With the loss, Denison's season comes to an end at 7-8-2.  Ohio Wesleyan improves to 13-3-2 and advances to the tournament championship on Saturday at Kenyon College.

Ohio Wesleyan wasted little time getting on the board when Hector Gomez fed a pass to Dom Calabrese who took a shot from the top of the box to the lower right 90.  That goal came just 8:09 into the match.

The Battling Bishops turned up the offense and after a shot by Denison's Leo Herard was saved by J.P. Baughman, OWU flipped the field and Gomez scored from the right side of the box for his sixth goal of the season.

OWU held a 16-4 advantage in shots in the first half as Big Red goalkeeper Dylan Brown turned in five first half saves.

In the second half the Big Red battled back and in the 78th minute, they cut the deficit in half when Matt Rush's corner kick was headed into the goal by Eric Buer.  The final 10 minutes of regulation was all Denison as the Big Red drew two more corner kicks.  In the last 90 seconds of the match, Baughman had to make saves on shots by Ryan Albers and Adrian Miller.

Eight different Denison players accounted for the team's 10 shots.  Buer and Herard led the squad with two shots apiece. Brown finished with six saves in 90 minutes in goal.  Baughman ended with three saves.

OWU outshot Denison 25-10 and held a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks.
