BEREA, Ohio – Matt Rush's goal in the 58th minute secured Denison's comeback bid on Saturday night as the Big Red tallied a 2-1 victory over Baldwin Wallace University at Finnie Stadium in Berea, Ohio. The win also gave head coach Rob Russo the 200th win of his Denison career as he moved to 200-132-35 overall with the Big Red.

Denison outshot the Yellow Jackets 15-10 on the night, but it was BW's 7-6 shot advantage in the first half that put the Big Red down early.

After DU's Dylan Brown made a save on a penalty kick from Rafael Davalos in the 26th minute, BW responded at 31:46 when Danny Ruple scored his fifth goal of the season to put Denison in an early deficit 1-0.

Trailing 1-0 with 14 seconds remaining in the half, freshman Tony Buechly recorded the equalizer on a pass from Pierre de la Croix-Vaubois to help the Big Red enter the half tied at 1-1.

Following the game-tying goal from DU at the end of the first half, Denison opened the second frame with a 5-1 shot advantage, including an unassisted goal from Rush at 57:38 that broke the tie and gave the Big Red a 2-1 lead.

Denison turned in a 9-3 shot advantage for the second half as they kept BW off the board for the remainder of the match and tallied their third-straight victory to move to 3-1 on the season. Baldwin Wallace dropped to 2-2 on the season.

Leo Herard and Lorenz Hoover tied for the match-lead with three shots each while Burke McLaughlin and Rush followed with two shots apiece. BW's Nick Surowicz and Cannon Dees posted two shots each for the game.

Brown tallied four saves in a full match effort to move to 3-0 on the season, while Patrick Mehal collected five saves for Baldwin Wallace in 90 minutes of action.

Denison returns to the pitch on Wednesday, Sept. 11 when they travel to Capital University for a 7 p.m. kickoff with the Crusaders.
