CLEVELAND, Ohio – Denison men's soccer was recognized by the North Coast Athletic Conference on Monday afternoon as junior goalkeeper Dylan Brown was named the NCAC Player of the Week following a pair of victories over Marietta and Baldwin Wallace this past week. This is Brown's second NCAC weekly honor for his career after last earning the conference award on Oct. 29, 2018.
In last Thursday's 2-1 victory over Marietta, Brown posted a season-high nine saves against the Pioneers, but none were bigger than a pair of lead-preserving saves in the final two minutes of action. With DU leading 2-1 in the 88th minute of the night, the Pioneers were fouled inside the Denison box, giving MC's Gavin Long a penalty kick with 2:02 remaining. Lined up one-on-one with Brown, Long took a shot on the right side of the goal and Brown met him with a diving save that kept the Big Red in front, 2-1.
Brown also made a leaping save on Marietta's Will McAlister with two seconds to play that secured Denison's second win of the season. Brown also tallied four saves in a full 90 minutes of action in DU's 2-1 win at Baldwin Wallace on Saturday, Sept. 7.
Finishing the week with 13 saves and a .867 save percentage, the Rochester Hills, Mich. native currently holds a perfect 3-0 record with 16 saves and a 0.62 goals-against-average.
Brown and the Big Red will return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 11 when they travel to Bexley, Ohio for a 7 p.m. tilt with the Crusaders of Capital University.
