CLEVELAND, Ohio – Freshman Vlad Rotnov was named the North Coast Athletic Conference's Player of the Week following a No. 1 singles victory over the reigning NCAC Player of the Year from Wooster, Titas Bera.
In a 9-0 team win over the Fighting Scots on Wednesday, March 28, all eyes focused on top-flight singles when Rotnov snapped Bera's 14-match winning streak with a 10-7 third set tiebreaker, winning the match 6-2, 6-7 (5), 10-7. Rotnov also added a pair of wins on the doubles courts with fellow freshman Mitchell Thai, winning No. 2 doubles over Wooster's Nathan Devereux and Joaquin Abos Amos, 8-1, and then on Saturday over Carnegie Mellon's Nicholas Calzolano and Ben Ash, 8-4.
Rotnov currently holds a 13-4 singles record on the season and will return to action with the Big Red on Friday, April 6 when they travel to Creve Coeur, Mo. to take on Missouri Baptist University at 8 p.m. central time.
