GRANVILLE, Ohio – On a day where senior Jamie McDonald was recognized for his time at Denison, Big Red men's tennis showed their appreciation as they blanked Wittenberg University, 9-0, on Tuesday evening at the Mitchell Fieldhouse in Granville.

In doubles play, McDonald and freshman Mitchell Thai helped the Big Red garner their first win of the evening, sweeping Wittenberg's Caleb Astwood and Evan Dinopoulos, 8-0, in No. 2 doubles. The pairing of Vlad Rotnov and Brian Weisberg produced the same result over Nathan Baluch and Austin Grote on the No. 3 court, while No. 1 doubles went to a 9-8 tiebreaker with DU's Kevin Brown and Blake Burstein prevailing 7-3 over Martin Mora and Luke Minard.

On the singles courts, McDonald improved to 2-0 on the day as he took No. 1 singles over Witt's Mora, 7-5, 6-3. Following a 6-2, 6-0 win for Thai over Minard in No. 2 singles, Danish Siddiquie defeated Astwood, 6-1, 6-0 on the No. 3 court and Patrick McGuigan earned a pair of 6-1 set victories over Dinopoulos in No. 4 singles. Jacob Dennen and John Purnode rounded out the team win with back-to-back 6-0 set wins to send the Big Red to 8-4 on the season.

DU will hit the road this Friday, April 13 as they head to Crawfordsville, Ind. for a 5 p.m. match start with Wabash College.
