TOLEDO, Ohio -- Denison men's tennis returned to the courts for the first time since the fall season on Sunday afternoon and suffered a 6-1 loss to the University of Toledo at the Shadow Valley Tennis Club in Toledo.

In singles play, the Big Red's Tim Cianciola captured the team's only win of the day in a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Thawin Suksathaporn in No. 3 singles. In No. 2 singles, sophomore Mitchell Thai recovered from a loss in the first set to take the second set from Danilo Vukotic, 7-5. Despite Thai's comeback, Vukotic recorded the victory after winning the final set, 10-6.

The same result occurred for sophomore Patrick McGuigan in No. 5 play when he dropped the first set to Serjen Olmedo 7-6 and came back to win the second set, 6-3. Olmedo ended up victorious in the third set after taking it in a 10-4 tiebreaker.

In doubles, the point went to the Rockets after Luka Vitosevic and Omar Espinosa defeated Kevin Brown and Blake Burstein 6-2 on the No. 1 court, and Thai and Cianciola fell to Suksathaporn and Vukotic in No. 2 doubles, 6-3.

The Big Red return to action next Saturday, Feb. 9 when they travel to Indianapolis, Ind. to take on the University of Chicago.
