Men's Tennis picks up road win at Hope

HOLLAND, Mich.--  The 25th ranked Denison men's tennis team rolled to an 8-1 win over Hope College. 

Denison entered singles play with a 2-1 lead thanks to victories by Mitchell Thai and Tim Cianciola at No. 2 doubles and an 8-2 victory by Patrick McGuigan and Brian Weisberg at third doubles.

In singles play, the Big Red cruised through all six matches in straight sets.  Vlad Rotnov dispatched senior Mark VanderStoep at No. 1 singles, 6-4, 6-4.

At No. 2 singles, Thai defeated Tim Roe, 6-4, 6-2 while Cianciola topped Danny Kroeze, 6-0, 6-1 at third singles.

Kevin Brown (6-3, 6-4), McGuigan (6-2, 6-2) and Jacob Dennen (6-0, 6-3) rounded out the singles victories for DU.

The win moves Denison to 2-2 on the season while Hope drops to 3-3.  Denison is back in action tomorrow (Sunday, March 3) when they travel to Kalamazoo for a 9:30 a.m. match.
