The Big Red men's track and field team competed at the annual Division III All-Ohio Championship at Ohio Wesleyan on Saturday. Denison finished in a tie for 12th place after totaling 24 points.
Senior Chad Kosanovich and freshman Wallace Branche each posted a victory on Saturday in Delaware. Kosanovich won the 1500-meter event after crossing the finish line in 3:54.57, while Branche's leap of 44-11.50 earned him the All-Ohio triple jump title.
Freshman Sam Posniewski also scored points for the Big Red. Posniewski finished sixth in the 400 hurdles after crossing the finish line at 56.93. Rounding out the scoring was the 4x100 relay team of Jordan Patterson, Dimonde Hale, Ian Mulmat and Quenton Richards. The DU foursome took eighth after checking in at 43.63.
Ryan Keller, Jon Brachna and Brian Myers also posted strong performances on Saturday afternoon. Keller took ninth in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:58.71. Brachna and Myers each posted 15th-place finishes in the 800 (1:59.67) and 10,000 (33:48.10), respectively. In the 4x400 relay, Posniewski, Patterson, Brachna and Hale placed 14th with a time of 3:36.41.
Three Ohio Athletic Conference schools occupied the top three spots. Mount Union won the team title with 98 points, while Baldwin Wallace (75) and John Carroll (69) followed the Purple Raiders. Ohio Wesleyan and Otterbein rounded out the top five with 67 and 56.5 points, respectively.
Denison returns to action on Saturday when they travel to Gambier, Ohio for the Kenyon Invitational.
