The Denison Big Red sent four athletes to the Ron Althoff Invitational on Monday hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio.
Denison junior Aedin Brennan competed in three different events on Monday, highlighted by a school-record performance in the 400-meter hurdles. One month ago, Brennan bested her own school record in the event with a time of 1:01.96 at the 2015 All-Ohio Championship held at OWU's Selby Stadium. Fast forward 30 days and the junior returned to Delaware looking to improve on her mark. She did just that by re-setting her own school record with a winning time of 1:01.58. With her performance, Brennan moved into the top-8 in Division III in the 400 hurdles.
The New York native also won the triple jump with a combined leap of 38'11". Brennan also took sixth in the long jump with a mark of 17'6.75".
Freshman Hannah Hall and junior Kate Benson both posted outdoor personal records on Monday. After successfully clearing 5'3.75" on three separate occasions, Hall cleared 5'4.25" in the high jump, which was just .25" shy of the school record set in 2000. The freshman finished second overall and first among attached competitors. Benson's PR came in the 5,000-meter run after crossing the finishing line in 18:47.04. That time resulted in a fourth-place finish.
On the men's side, junior Wallace Branche placed fourth in the triple jump with a combined mark of 46'2". Branche's best jump came in his final attempt of the finals.
The final event on the Big Red's schedule is the Gregory Invitational (May 14-15) hosted by North Central College.
