The Denison men's track and field team finished 14th at the 2016 All-Ohio Championship held at George Gauthier Track on the campus of Ohio Wesleyan University on Saturday.
Freshman David Carter posted the best finish for the Big Red on Saturday after placing third in the triple jump with a personal-best record of 45'5". Carter's performance surpassed his previous PR by a half inch. Sophomore Church Humphreys took 10th in the event with a final mark of 40'2".
Seniors Bryan Fowler and Mitch Keller both turned in fourth-place finishes at the All-Ohio meet. Fowler recorded a personal-best mark of 177'10" in the javelin, which eclipsed his previous record by eight feet. Junior Drake Lohnes also PRed in the javelin with a final mark of 147'2". In the 800-meter event, Keller crossed the finish line in 1:55.21 which was a .33-second improvement from his previous PR.
In the 4x400 relay, Mitch Keller, Ryan Keller, Zach Munn and Zach Cove combined for a time of 3:27.91 which landed them in ninth place overall. DU also took 13th in the 4x100 where the team of Carter, Michael Bonebrake, Lucas Romick and Quenton Richards turned in a time of 44.58.
The host Bishops won the team title with 163 points followed by Mount Union with 121 tallies. Ohio Northern was third (105.50), while Otterbein (59) and Baldwin Wallace (56) rounded out the top five spots in the 18-team field.
The Big Red returns to action on Tuesday (April 19) at the NCAC Quad held at the College of Wooster. Field events are scheduled to start at 3 p.m., while the running events are slated to begin at 5:30 p.m.
