The Denison men's track & field team compiled 42 points on their way to a fifth-place showing at the annual Bob Shannon Invitational held at Denison's Mitchell Fieldhouse on Saturday.

Sophomore All-American David Carter won the triple jump with a combined leap of 43'10". Carter's classmate Isaac Reed turned in a personal-best performance in the 60-meter hurdles. After qualifying for the finals with a prelim time of 8.96, Reed turned in a PR time of 8.89 in the finals en route to a third-place finish. The sophomore's time was two hundredths of a second better than his previous personal record. The distance medley relay team of Patrick Dunn, Ben Gibbs, Zach Munn and Ben Foster also turned in a third-place performance with a combined time of 11:05.41.

Freshman Bryce Stricker scored in both of his events, headlined by a school-record performance in the weight throw. One week removed from re-setting his own school record, Stricker accomplished the feat once again as he bested his previous school mark by 7.50". The freshman's toss of 45'10.50" landed him in fourth place overall. Stricker also took seventh in the shot put with a heave of 43'9.75".

Junior Church Humphreys finished sixth in the pole vault (10'11.75"), while senior Jeremy Bloomfield and sophomore Ryan Seibert finished sixth and eighth, respectively, in the 5,000-meter event. Bloomfield checked in at 17:00.05, while Seibert crossed the line in 17:44.51. The team of Isaac Andrews, Gibbs, Munn and Foster closed out the meet with a sixth-place finish in the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:39.18.

In the first day of the All-Ohio Heptathlon, senior Drake Lohnes sits in ninth place with 1,765 points through the first four events. Lohnes' best finish came in the third event of the day, finishing seventh in the shot put with a toss of 29'6".

Lohnes will wrap up the heptathlon on Sunday where he will compete in the 60-meter hurdles, the pole vault and the 1,000-meter run. Denison will be back in action next weekend at the All-Ohio Championship hosted by Otterbein University.
