LEXINGTON, Va. – Denison men's track & field opened their 2019 outdoor season on Friday with three, top-10 finishes on the first day of action at the 2019 Washington & Lee Carnival hosted in Lexington, Va.

Denison's best performance of the day came from junior Ryan Fleming who placed second overall in the high jump event, posting a final mark of 1.94 meters. Fleming's second-place finish came on the heels of an NCAC title in the high jump at the end of the indoor season, reaching 6'6" to secure his first individual conference championship.

In the 10,000-meter run, senior Jack Marchetti landed in fifth place after clocking in at 34:23.96.

Denison's top-10s were rounded out in the long jump when Alex Chin placed 10th overall after reaching a maximum leap of 6.01 meters.

Kenny Connelly also competed for the Big Red, placing 40th overall in the 1,500-meter run on a final time of 4:38.94.

Denison will return to Washington & Lee on Saturday, March 16 to compete in the final day of action at the W&L Carnival. The Big Red will also send competitors to the Muskingum University Muskie Duals on Saturday in New Concord, Ohio.
