Harriers open with a win at Franklin

Denison cross country team

The Denison men's cross country team began its season with a team victory at the Sodexo Grizzly Invite hosted by Franklin College in Franklin, Ind.

Denison posted four top-10 finishes at the six-school, 85 runner event.  As a team they finished with 41 points, outdistancing second-place Spalding by six points.  Individually, DU was led by senior Chad Kosanovich who placed fourth with a time of 27:16.71.

First-year Andrew Groff placed seventh in 27:41.94 and following in positions 9-11 was sophomore John Williamson (28:16.49), junior Stephen Stitcher (28:16.80), and senior Steven Johnson (28:17.19).

This marks the first team championship for a Denison men's cross country team since the 2008 Wilmington Fall Classic. The Big Red's next event will be the Wooster Invitational on Sept. 15.
