Men’s XC place ninth at Inter-Regional Rumble

OBERLIN, Ohio – Led by a top 20 finish from senior Niall Clancey, Denison men's cross country finished ninth overall out of 27 teams at Oberlin College's Inter-Regional Rumble held at the OC Cross Country course on Saturday morning. Totaling 310 team points on the day, the Big Red finished one point ahead of 10th place Alma College (311) and eight points behind eighth-place John Carroll (302). Case Western Reserve won the team title with 46 points and three finishers in the top 10.

Highlighting Denison's effort was Clancey who placed 20th overall out of 308 competitors with an 8k time of 26:18.1. Following by 13.5 seconds and 11 spots was sophomore Adam Cromwell with a time of 26:31.6 in 31st place.

Clayton Watters gave the Big Red three runners in the top 50 after he finished in 46th after clocking in at 26:44.5. Rounding out Denison's team scoring was senior Jack Marchetti in 115th (27:59.2) and junior Kenny Connelly with a 28:29.7 (161st place).

Also competing for DU was freshman Keanan Ginell (29:05.9), Zackary Johnston (30:16.8), and Henri Hegemier (32:09.5).

The Big Red will take next week off before returning to the trail on Saturday, October 27 when they head to Liberty Park in Powell, Ohio to take part in the 2018 North Coast Athletic Conference Championship meet.
