DELAWARE, Ohio- Denison dropped the opener with Ohio Wesleyan, 9-1, but rebounded for a 13-10 victory in game two to open North Coast Athletic Conference play with a doubleheader split against the Battling Bishops.

In game two, Denison pounded out 19 hits and pulled ahead for good with a six-run sixth inning to open up a 12-6 lead.  Six Big Red batters enjoyed multi-hit games led by Laura Bagan who was 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, four RBIs and two runs scored.

Mckinly Vazquez was also 3-for-4 with an RBI and one run scored.  Amanda Howell and Lauren Secaras were 3-for-5 with two runs scored, apiece.  Howell drove in three runs while Secaras had two RBIs.

Secaras also got the start and went the distance. She allowed six earned runs in 7.0 innings pitched while striking out four.  With the win, she improved to 2-0 on the season.

Kendall Kaiser got the loss for OWU in game two. Her record dropped to 0-1.

In the first game of the doubleheader, Ohio Wesleyan blew the game wide open with a six-run sixth inning.  Denison trailed 3-0 entering the top of the sixth and Bishop starting pitcher Madi Drabick did not allow a hit through the first five innings.  In the sixth, Emilie Fisher broke up the no-hit bid with a two-out single.  She proceeded to steal second and Secaras delivered an RBI single to center, scoring Fisher.

Denison went into the home half of the sixth trailing 3-1 but back-to-back RBI doubles and back-to-back home runs by Erin Ferguson and Kayla Richard put an end to the opener.

Drabick pitched six innings, allowing two hits and one run while striking out two.  Denison starter Sarah Herold took the loss and dropped to 3-2 on the year.

Denison moves to 6-4 and 1-1 in the NCAC while Ohio Wesleyan's record shots to 8-6 and 1-1 in conference play.

The Big Red returns to Granville on Wednesday (April 4) for a pair of games against Kenyon beginning at 3:30 p.m.
