Holding a 19-12 lead coming out of the first period, DU opened the second with a 13-4 scoring run, capitalized by five points each from Atkinson and sophomore Lauren Turner.

Following a pair of free throws from Allegheny's Delaney Arbore, junior's Lucy Bancone and Valesha Province went back-to-back from triple, giving Denison a 38-18 lead with 5:06 remaining before halftime. Atkinson then added a pair of threes to take a 44-22 advantage less than two minutes later.

With 2:25 to play in the second, Turner turned another Gator turnover into a layup on the other end, and sophomore Alison Schafer followed with Denison's eighth three in the second period to help the Big Red take a 51-26 lead heading into the half.
