CLEVELAND, Ohio – Junior Lauren Longbrake secured this week's Player of the Week honor from the North Coast Athletic Conference following her game-winning basket in double overtime on Saturday against Wittenberg.
With the game tied at 76-76 in the second overtime and three seconds remaining, Longbrake gathered a missed shot from teammate Valesha Province and connected on the put-back with 0.9 seconds left to play. Longbrake's game-winner put Denison ahead for good as they tallied a 78-76 victory. She finished the game with 13 points on 5-of-8 shooting in 17 minutes of action off the bench.
In DU's 66-53 win at Wooster on Wednesday, January 16, Longbrake recorded 14 points on 6-of-9 from the field and added eight rebounds.
Averaging 13.5 points and 6.5 rebounds over both victories, the Groveport, Ohio native currently leads the Big Red with 5.2 rebounds per game while totaling 10.5 points per contest this season.
Longbrake and the Big Red will return to the court on Wednesday, January 23 when they travel to Hiram College for an 8 p.m. tip-off with the Terriers.
