GRANVILLE, Ohio -- The Denison women's golf team placed fourth out of 11 teams at the 2018 Lynn Schweizer Invitational hosted at the Denison Golf Club on Sunday afternoon. The Big Red posted a 36-hole score of 655, placing them 10 strokes behind third-place Wittenberg (645).

The two-day tournament was postponed on Saturday due to rain.  Despite the poor conditions, the entire field did get through at least 12 holes of their opening round.  On Sunday, tee times were moved up to 8 a.m. and the 36-hole tournament was completed.

Denison was led by junior Emmy Timberlake who shot scores of 83 and 75. In her second round of play, Timberlake tallied birdies on holes two, three, and 17 to drop her total score to 158 and finish in a tie for eighth place out of 69 golfers.

Sophomore Megan Wong finished just one stroke back of Timberlake, totaling a 159 over both rounds to land in a tie for 12th.

Led by a first-round 78, freshman Sophia Alexander finished in a tie for 21st place with a score of 166. Sophomore Olivia Cowley followed in a tie for 28th with a 169, and freshman Megan Munn land three strokes behind Cowley with a 172 (31st place).

Rounding out the Denison team score was junior Nicole Wetoska's 181 in 45th place, while senior Moe Madar finished two strokes ahead of Wetoska in a tie for 41st place (179) as an individual.

Also competing as individuals for the Big Red were Ellie Broker in 46th place (184), Lauren Danielson in 53rd (189), and Julia Giordano in a tie for 56th place (198).

DU will return to the tee box on Saturday, September 15 when they travel to the Links at Spring Church in Apollo, Pa. to defend their 2017 team championship at the Carnegie Mellon Fall Shoot Out.
