LEXINGTON, Ky. - Denison women's golf is currently tied for third place after the first round of action at the 2019 Transylvania Spring Invitational hosted at the Greenbrier Country Club in Lexington, Ky. Totaling a day-one score of 342, the Big Red are squared up with Bellarmine University in a tie for third at +54. Both squads are nine strokes behind tournament-host Transylvania in second place (333) while the University of Pikeville sits in first place at +33 (321).
Leading the way for Denison after the first round is junior Emmy Timberlake who sits in a tie for fourth after firing a day-one score of 80 at eight-over-par. Sophomore Megan Wong landed three strokes behind Timberlake in ninth place with an 83 at +11.
Lauren Danielson posted Denison's third-lowest score with an 88 (+16) as she is currently tied with Transy's Rachel Fine for 16th place. Freshman Megan Munn rounded out the team scoring for DU and sits in 23rd place after checking in with a +19 score of 91.
Olivia Cowley closed out the day with an 18-hole score of 98 (+26) to sit in 28th place.
The Big Red will return to the Greenbrier C.C. on Monday, April 8 when they compete in the final round of the Transylvania Spring Invitational.
