MANSFIELD, Ohio – Thanks to top-10 performances from Emmy Timberlake, Megan Wong, and Sophia Alexander, Denison women's golf is currently four strokes back of the lead after the first round of action at the 2019 North Coast Athletic Conference Championship held at Westbrook Country Club in Mansfield, Ohio.

After Friday's round was canceled due to weather, the Big Red posted a team score of 332 on Saturday to sit in third place. DePauw University is three strokes ahead of Denison in second place at 329 while Wittenberg University is the tournament's current leader at 328.

Timberlake led the Big Red through the first round after firing even-par through the first nine holes to help record a six-over-par 78 and place third overall after 18 holes. Wong finished one stroke back of Timberlake in fourth place with a 79 on day one while Alexander rounded out the top-10 with a score of 84 in 10th place.

Freshman Megan Munn closed out the scoring on Saturday with a 91 to tie for 19th. Ellie Broker also competed for DU as she sits in a tie for 26th with a day-one score of 98.

The Big Red will return to Westbrook C.C. on Sunday (May 5) for the final round of play at the 2019 NCAC Championship.
