DANVILLE, Ind. – Led by a quartet of top-10 finishers, Denison women's golf secured their second-straight tournament championship on Sunday afternoon with a team victory at the 2019 Dan Quayle Collegiate Classic hosted at the Twin Bridges Golf Club in Danville, Ind. This marks DU's second team title in three weeks after the Big Red won the OWU Fall Invitational with a record-setting team score of 593 on Sept. 8.

Finishing with a two-day total of 622, the Big Red landed 20 strokes ahead of second-place Rhodes College (642) while Illinois Wesleyan finished third overall (648) and tournament host DePauw followed in fourth at 649.

Competing in a field of 43 golfers, senior Emmy Timberlake led Denison with a two-day score of 151 (+7) to finish in second place, just one stroke back of Illinois Wesleyan's Melanie Wolf who claimed the individual title (150). Sophomore Sophia Alexander improved by two strokes on Sunday to shoot a 77 and finished the tournament in a tie for fourth at 156 (+12). Timberlake and Alexander were also named to the All-Tournament team since they both finished in the top-five.

Freshman Laine Hursh trailed Alexander by one stroke (157) to land in sixth place while fellow first-year Julia Shafir fired a pair of 79's to shoot a 158 for the weekend and place seventh overall. Sophomore Megan Munn rounded out the Denison lineup with a 36-hole score of 171 to finish in a five-way tie for 24th.

The Big Red return to the links on Monday, Oct. 14 when they travel to Sylvania, Ohio to compete in the Gray Wolf Invitational hosted by Lourdes University.
