Reid Hirschey scored 8 goals in Denison's pair of season-opening wins.
Reid Hirschey scored 8 goals in Denison's pair of season-opening wins.

Though the Denison campus is still covered with snow, spring sports season has begun in earnest.  Last weekend, the women's lacrosse team defeated both Centre and Millsaps in Danville, Ky. by a combined total score of 39-8. The lacrosse team's performance was noticed as sophomore Reid Hirschey earned North Coast Athletic Conference player of the week.

In two games last week, the Edina, Minn. native scored eight goals, also adding an assist and three draw controls. Taking just eleven shots, Hirschey was able to convert 73 percent of her looks in the two victories.

Women's lacrosse has some time off for midterms before a spring break trip to Clearwater, Fla.  Their next game is against Connecticut College on March 15. Game time is currently scheduled for 11 a.m.
