Isabel Swicklik scored her second-career goal on Senior Day against Hiram.

Denison's strong first half powered the Big Red past Hiram to a 20-1 victory on Senior Day in Granville. The four seniors combined to play a part in half of the team's goals on Saturday afternoon.

The Big Red offense erupted for eight goals in the first 10 minutes of the game. Carol Allen and Kelsey Wright opened the scoring with goals seven seconds apart, while Erin Keller and Claudia Rafi each added an unassisted tally. Whitney Powel notched her second and third assists on goals by Ludlow and Keller before goals from Ludlow and Lizzy Pellicane resulted in the 8-0 lead.

Over the final 19 minutes, Denison added eight more goals to take a 16-0 lead into the half. Two of those goal scorers were senior defenders Isabel Swicklik and Melissa Weinsz, who scored for the first time this season. Powel, Annie McMahon, Reid Hirschey, Ludlow and Rafi also scored during that span.

DU went on to outscore the Terriers 4-1 in the second period. Allen and Grace Gavula both scored off assists from Powell, while McMahon and Ludlow also found the back of the net. Hiram's Autumn Osgood ended Denison's bid for a shutout with a free position goal as time expired.

Powell finished with a game-high seven points behind a goal and a season-high tying six assists. Ludlow finished with four goals and six assists, while Allen, Rafi, Weinsz, Keller and McMahon all finished with two goals. Hirschey, Powel and Leah Israel scooped up five ground balls and caused three turnovers each. Keller finished with a game-high five draw controls.

Osgood led the Terriers with a goal and four draw controls. Hiram goalie Rachel Metcalf made 11 saves and collected three ground balls on the day.

As a team, the Big Red outshot the Terriers 37-3 and went a perfect 9-for-9 in clear attempts. They also converted on all four of their free position shots and corralled 28 ground balls, compared to just nine for Hiram.

Denison ends the regular season with a 9-6 record, while Hiram falls to 5-11. The Big Red earned third seed in next week's North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament with a 6-2 league mark. DU will open tournament play on Wednesday at second-seeded Wooster at 7 p.m.

NOTE: Prior to the start of Saturday's game, Denison's four-member senior class of Isabel Swicklik, Erin Keller, Whitney Powel and Melissa Weinsz were honored.
