The Denison women's lacrosse team was named an Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Association (IWLCA) Academic Honor Squad, while senior standout Whitney Powel was named to the IWLCA's Academic Honor Roll. This recent award for Powel comes after being named the IWLCA's Division III Scholar Athlete of the Year in July.
The Big Red was one of 129 Division III institutions who received academic accolades from the association. Teams must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher in order to be named an IWLCA Academic Honor Squad.
The Big Red won the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament last May and advanced to the NCAA Division III Tournament for the 17th time in program history. Denison women's lacrosse has appeared in the NCAA postseason in four of the last five seasons and is 24-10 in two seasons under head coach Amanda Daniels.
