GREENCASTLE, Ind. – Recording their 10th-consecutive victory of the season, Denison women's lacrosse improved to 13-2 overall and 7-0 in North Coast Athletic Conference play on Wednesday evening as they traveled to Greencastle, Ind. and shut out DePauw University, 23-0, at Reavis Stadium.
Outshooting the Tigers 51-6 while DePauw committed 33 turnovers allowed the Big Red to take advantage in the opening minutes, taking a 3-0 lead off goals from Kiely Noonan, Maddy Heher and Liza Farnham in the first 2:33 of play.
Taking a 12-2 advantage in draw controls during the first half, Denison received multiple goals from four different players in the first 30 minutes of play, including Noonan, Heher, Claudia Rafi and freshman Lindsey Karsh. The Big Red took a 13-0 lead into the half.
Coming out of the break, Noonan found Rafi for her third goal of the game and Farnham scored unassisted to give DU a 15-0 lead with 26:26 remaining. Following goals from Halle Walsh and Farnham, senior Leah Israel scored off a free position attempt to increase the lead to 18-0.
Molly Fischer, Hope Adams, Ally Zimmer, Colleen Muldoon, Emerson Younger and Camille Concannon also scored for DU as the Big Red tallied their first shutout since April 15, 2017, when they defeated Hiram College, 22-0.
Rafi, Noonan, and Farnham each recorded three-goal games on the evening, while Emily Marlatt led the way with five ground balls and Jane Goodspeed tallied a game-high seven draw controls.
The win also moves Denison's NCAC winning-streak to 28 games, dating back to a 21-9 win at Allegheny on April 11, 2015.
The Big Red will close out the regular season on Saturday, April 28 when they host the Yeowomen of Oberlin College for an opening draw of 1 p.m.
