OBERLIN, Ohio-- Casey McTague scored a career-high five goals and senior All-American Jane Goodspeed stuffed the stat sheet with five caused turnovers, eight draw controls, and six ground balls to lead Denison to a 17-8 win over Oberlin. With the win, the Big Red improves to 6-3 overall and 2-0 in the North Coast Athletic Conference while extending their league winning streak to 31 games.
With 11:43 to play in the first half the Yeowomen were hanging tough, trailing 5-4 after Kyra Aviles's unassisted goal. The Big Red responded with three goals over the final 10 minutes of the first half to take an 8-5 lead into the intermission.
In the second half, Denison opened with a 5-0 run that spanned only four minutes. McTague and Liza Farnham scored two goals apiece and Molly Fischer scored with a player advantage after a yellow card on Oberlin's Eliza Amber.
The Big Red piled up 50 shots and forced Oberlin goalie Siena Marcelle to make 21 saves. The Yeowomen took 25 shots and Hannah Magarian finished with eight saves for DU.
While McTague led the offense with five goals, Fischer and Farnham followed with three goals apiece. Kiely Noonan scored once and had five draw controls and Maddy Heher posted one goal and three assists. Sophomore Megan Cunningham helped the defense with three caused turnovers and three ground balls.
Denison returns to Piper Stadium on Saturday when they host Hiram College at 4 p.m.
