GRANVILLE, Ohio—Maggie Armstrong's header off a corner kick by Sam Haseltine five minutes into overtime pushed the Denison Big Red to a 1-0 win over Oberlin on Wednesday night at Barclay-Thomsen Field.  With the win, Denison remains undefeated in North Coast Athletic Conference play at 2-0-2.

Denison was on the cusp of scoring throughout the match as they outshot the Yeowomen 15-6 in regulation.  Not only did Denison hold a decisive scoring advantage, but they were also putting those shots on-frame.

Oberlin goalkeeper Jordyn Morris turned in an outstanding 10 save performance in 95 minutes.  Two shots that didn't need to be saved but nearly put Denison on top in the first half came in the 24th and 29th minute, respectively.  The first was shot by Riley Hammond that slipped just on the outside of the right goal post.  Five minutes later, Kelly O'Neill flushed a shot from the close range that was blocked by an Oberlin defender.

Denison had another near miss in the 56th minute after Molly Smith's shot from just outside the 18 was saved by a diving Morris.

With 17 minutes left in regulation, things got dicey in the Oberlin box.  Just seconds after Denison's Logan Agin entered the match for Armstrong, Agin took a shot from the middle of the box that had resulted in a team save for Oberlin.  It was defender Grace Hayes who saved the goal, but the ball bounced back into play where O'Neill took a shot that was on target but punched out with two fists by Morris.

With 2:50 left in regulation Oberlin had its best chance of the half when Madeline Lynam's shot was saved by Denison keeper Patil Tcholakian.

In overtime, DU nearly ended it just 30 seconds into the period when Liz Gilbert slipped a through ball to Kailey Knopf, but her shot was denied by Morris.

Denison retained possession throughout most of overtime and after the Big Red was awarded a corner kick with just over five minutes left, Haseltine's ball found the head of Armstrong who sent everyone home happy with her seventh goal of the season.  Of Armstrong's seven goals this season, three have been game-winners.

Denison outshot Oberlin 17-6 while attempting nine corner kicks to the Yeowomen's four.  Tcholakian ended with three saves while Morris posted a season-high 12 saves.

The Big Red returns to Barclay-Thomsen Field on Saturday (Oct. 13) when they host Wittenberg at 3:30 p.m.
