GRANVILLE, Ohio – Wittenberg's Carly Stang scored in the 94th minute as No. 25 Denison women's soccer suffered a 2-1 overtime loss to the Tigers in the semifinal round of the North Coast Athletic Conference on Wednesday night at Deeds Field-Piper Stadium.

Following a move from Barclay-Thomsen Field due to the weather, the Big Red looked to be in control after outshooting Wittenberg 31-8 on the night, including 15-3 in the first half.

After Witt's first two shots to open the match were saved by DU's Patil Tcholakian, Denison tallied the next eight shots, highlighted by a deep cross from Emma Phinney to freshman Abby King who capitalized from the left side of the goal box to put the Big Red in front, 1-0.

Despite shots from King, Kelly O'Neill and Sydney Ludes landing just wide of the goal and outshooting the Tigers 7-1 before the half, the Big Red entered intermission with a 1-0 advantage.

Entering the second half, Denison continued to bring the offensive pressure as senior Maggie Armstrong opened the frame with three shots, including a header that missed just right of the post. Unable to convert, Wittenberg answered in the 71st minute when Sydney Artis sent a corner kick inside the box and Emily Wile notched a header in net to tie the match at 1-1.

In the 81st minute, Kate Dannemiller had a 60-yard free kick take one hop toward the net, but Witt's goalie Kelly Corbin made a jumping save as both sides stayed tied at 1-1 at the end of regulation.

In overtime, the Big Red took the first shot, but Stang put the Tigers ahead for good at 93:52 after connecting on a loose ball atop the goal box to hand Denison their third loss of the season and an exit from the conference tournament.

King led all players with six shots, including four shots on goal to go along with her goal. O'Neill followed with five shots, while Armstrong and Liz Gilbert each tallied three shots.

Corbin earned the win in net for the Tigers after posting 12 saves in 93:52 of action. DU's Tcholakian garnered three saves in the extra time effort.

Awaiting to hear their fate from the NCAA Tournament selection committee next week, the Big Red currently sit at 12-3-2 overall and 6-0-2 in the conference after garnering the 2018 NCAC regular season championship.
