GRANTHAM, Pa.—Denison's grueling 2019 schedule against some of the nation's top teams continued as the Big Red paid a visit to the nation's second-ranked team, Messiah College.

The Falcons struck early, scoring a pair of goals in the first six minutes helped Messiah hand Denison a 4-0 loss from Shoemaker Field.

Maddie Kohl started the scoring for the Falcons in the fourth minute off a pass from Ellie Lengacher.  Two minutes later, Brook Firestone notched her fifth goal of the season to put her team on top, 2-0.

The score remained that way until the 31st minute when Firestone tallied her second goal of the match.  Another quick-strike goal by Messiah followed three minutes later, on a score by Mallory Johnson.

Denison (2-4-3) held Messiah (6-1) scoreless over the final 56 minutes of play as goalkeeper Patil Tcholakian finished with seven saves in 90 minutes of action.  Abby King and Maddie Reap accounted for Denison's two shots in the contest.

The Big Red will travel to Bexley, Ohio on Wednesday (Sept. 25) for a 7 p.m. kickoff against Capital University.
