GRANVILLE, Ohio-- Denison women's swimming and diving defeated Division I Xavier University, 150-107 on Saturday at the Trumbull Aquatics Center.  The Big Red won 10 of 14 events against the Musketeers.

Leading the way for Denison was first-year KT Kustritz who finished with three victories.  She teamed with Angela Le, Carolyn Kane, and Casey Kirby to win the 200 medley relay in 1:45.48.  Her wins in the 100 and 200 breaststrokes were both NCAA 'B' cuts but they were not season bests.  She won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:03.43.  Kate Mesaros touched second in 1:07.02.  Kustritz and Mesaros also went 1-2 in the 200 breast with times of 2:19.55 and 2:28.14, respectively.

First-year Casey Kirby notched a 'B' cut in the 100 backstroke with a winning time of 57.03.  She also won the 200 back in 2:04.44 which was more than a one-second improvement over her fourth-place finish last night at Ohio State.

In the distance freestyle events, Campbell Costley won the 1,650 freestyle in 17:18.21 and the 500 freestyle in 5:02.88.  Her time in the mile was a 'B' cut performance.  Natalie Zaravella followed in second place with a time of 17:41.09 while Hannah Rusinko took third in 17:49.45.  Touching third in the 500 free was Alex Elizeus in 5:11.68.  Elizeus also placed second in the 200 freestyle in 1:55.69.

In the sprint freestyles, Kane was the winner in the 50 free in 24.15.  She took second in the 100 free in 53.08 while Carly Olsakovsky finished third with a time of 53.81.

The 200 butterfly victory went to Halli Garza who touched in 2:04.83.  That was just off her season-best 'B' cut time of 2:04.40 set last night against the Buckeyes.  Zoe Whelan followed in second place with a time of 2:09.16.  Whelan returned to win the 100 fly in 58.52 while Le touched as the runner-up in 58.58.

The final two events, the 400 IM and the 200 freestyle relay, were swum as exhibitions by the Big Red.  There was no diving competition at the meet.

Denison returns next Saturday for its annual dual meet against North Coast Athletic Conference rival, Kenyon College.  The meet will begin at 10 a.m. at the Trumbull Aquatics Center.
