GRANVILLE, Ohio--  The top-ranked Denison women's swimming & diving team suffered a 184.5-115.5 setback to Division I Pitt on Friday night at the Trumbull Aquatics Center.  This was the fifth dual meet of the season for the Big Red and their fourth against a Division I opponent.

The meet started strong as the team of Angela Le, KT Kustritz, Maddie Hopkins and Gabriella Nutter tied for first place in the 200 medley relay with a 'B' cut time of 1:44.84.  Denison's season-best time in the event is 1:41.57 set earlier this year.

The Big Red posted three other first-place finishes on the night, led by a pair of wins from Kustritz in the 50 breaststroke and the 100 breast.  In the 50 breast, Kustritz hit the wall in 28.47 to win.  She held off teammate Kate Mesaros in the 100 breast with a winning time of 1:02.15.  Mesaros was second in 1:05.98.

In the 50 butterfly, Hopkins was the winner with a time of 26.02.  Eili Wright followed in second place at 26.86.

Le checked in third in both backstroke events, logging a 59.18 in the 100 and a 27.16 in the 50.  Mia Chiappe was the runner-up in the 100 free in 53.78 and Hopkins returned for a second-place finish in the 100 fly with a time of 57.50.  Zoe Whelan was third in 57.68.

Natalie Zaravella and Hannah Rusinko went 3-4 in the 500 free.  Zaravella checked in with a time of 5:07.92 while Rusinko touched in 5:09.66.  Rusinko returned to place second in the 300 free (3:02.08).

In the 200 free, Logan Wickman led the way with a fifth-place time of 1:55.92 while Kustritz closed out her night with a 57.37 in the 100 IM, an event she was won twice at the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships.

In the final relay of the night, Chiappe, Casey Kirby, Hopkins and Nutter placed second in 1:37.05.

On the 3-meter board, Naomi Clayton led Denison with a third-place finish and a six-dive score of 254.03.  Allison Fitzgerald followed in fourth at 250.20 while Emma Weber placed seventh (206.40).

The 1-meter dive saw Fitzgerald place third with a provisional qualifying score of 269.48.  Clayton was fifth at 224.5 and Weber was sixth with a score of 220.65.

On Jan. 19 Denison will host an intrasquad meet beginning at 1 p.m. at the Trumbull Aquatics Center.
