ERIE, Pa. – Denison women's tennis earned their first win of the dual season on Friday night, shutting out Allegheny College 9-0 at the Westwood Racquet Club in Erie, Pa.

On the doubles courts, the Big Red's No. 1 pair of Lauren Hawley and Emma Alsup secured an 8-1 victory over Allegheny's Amanda Ress Liere and Sarah Casey. Megan Hickey and Ashley Hammons also notched an 8-1 win over Lauren Fugate and Miharo Koh. The Gators were unable to take a game in No. 3 doubles as the combo of Madeline Hart and Devin Gramley swept Allegheny's tandem of Savannah Gray and Hannah Schaffer 8-0.

In singles play, DU didn't drop a set in all six matches, headlined by Hawley's 6-0, 6-1 victory over Ress Liere of Allegheny. In No. 2 singles, Alsup defeated Casey 6-2, 6-0, and Hickey followed with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Koh in No. 3 singles. Gramley rounded out the singles performances with a perfect 6-0, 6-0 victory over the Gators' Schaffer.

The Big Red will return to action this Saturday, Feb. 25 when they travel to Club Sport & Health in Monroeville, Pa. to take on Indiana University of Pennsylvania at 3 p.m.
