CLEVELAND, Ohio – Senior Lauren Hawley was named the NCAC Player of the Week for the second time in three weeks after securing three top-flight victories over No. 39 Hope College & Kalamazoo College this past weekend in Michigan. This is Hawley's sixth athlete of the week honor for her career.
Opening the weekend with a 6-3 win over No. 39 Hope College, the nation's top 25-combo of Hawley and Emma Alsup earned a first flight victory on the doubles court over Claire Hallock and Amanda Bandrowski, 8-3. The pair also tallied the No. 1 win on Sunday against Kalamazoo, defeating Laura Hanselman and Caroline Norton, 8-1.
In singles play, Hawley highlighted her weekend against the Hornets, posting a top-flight, straight-set victory over Hanselman, 6-1, 6-0. The Dayton, Ohio native currently holds a 2-3 record in dual match singles play this season, while going 4-1 with Alsup on the doubles court.
Hawley and the Big Red will open North Coast Athletic Conference play on Wednesday, March 6 when they host Ohio Wesleyan for a 4:30 p.m. start.
