Big Red defeats DePauw to advance to NCAC title match

INDIANAPOLIS--  Denison defeated DePauw 5-1 in the semifinals of the 2019 North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament.  With the win, Denison will face off against top-seeded Kenyon in the NCAC Championship on Sunday at the Indianapolis Racquet Club.

Denison checked into this semifinal match ranked 26th in the latest ITA Division III rankings while DePauw was ranked 35th
The Big Red took all three doubles points with 8-5 wins out of each flight.  Lauren Hawley and Emma Alsup defeated Megan Galle and Sara Wilder at No. 1.  Alex Cash and Hannah Cianciola topped Colleen Morris and Emma Love at second doubles while Megan Hickey and Ashley Hammons defeated Amanda Showalter and Erin Friedrich in the third flight.

The Tigers picked up a point at No. 5 singles when Lily Cameron defeated Hammons, 6-3, 6-1.  Cianciola downed Love, 6-1, 6-1 at third singles.  The match was clinched by Lauren Hawley at No. 1 after her 7-5, 6-4 win over Galle.

The start time for Sunday's conference championship match will be 9 a.m. Denison is seeking its 13th NCAC Championship and the program's first since 2016.
