Women’s Tennis leads NCAC with nine ITA Scholar-Athletes

TEMPE, Ariz. – Denison women's tennis was recognized by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) this past week for their successes on the tennis court and in the classroom as an NCAC-best nine student-athletes were named ITA Scholar-Athletes. Additionally, the women's tennis program was honored as one of the ITA's All-Academic Teams after compiling a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.20 or better.

Senior Courtney Brown closed out her Big Red career as four-time ITA Scholar-Athlete while Emma Alsup and Charlotte Purnode secured the award three times and Megan Hickey was a two-time recipient of the honor. Lucy Deal, Hannah Cianciola, Natalie Overby, Devin Gramley, and Hannah Bradvica were named ITA Scholar-Athletes for the first time in their careers. To qualify, an athlete must be a varsity letter winner, have a grade point average of at least 3.50 for the current academic year and have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters.

Denison women's tennis finished the 2018-19 season at 13-9 overall and went 3-0 in the NCAC West. They also ended the year ranked 26th in the nation, the program's highest ranking to end the season since 2016 (22nd).
