Denison senior Tiffany Davis raced to a third-place finish in Saturday's finals of the 200 meter dash at the 2014 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships from Lincoln, Neb.
Running in the latter of two sections, Davis would win her heat with a time of 24.67. That time, just .06 behind her winning school-record time of 24.61 posted in yesterday's preliminaries, would land her third overall once the two sections were combined.
The event national title would go to Rowan senior Shailah Williams who crossed the finish line with a winning time of 24.41 from the outside lane on Nebraska Wesleyan University's banked track. Wartburg's Libby Schubert took second in 24.65 seconds, followed by Davis at 24.67, and Carly Fehler of Wisconsin Eau-Claire, who came in fourth with a time of 24.76.
This is the first All-American performance in Davis' decorated career. It also marks the second All-American performance by a DU athlete at an NCAA Indoor Championship. The first occurred yesterday after Aedin Brennan's seventh-place showing in the pentathlon.
Through 14 events at the championship, Denison sits in a tie for 19th place at the championship with eight points.
