The Denison women's track and field team set three indoor records at the Tiffin University Alumni Open on Saturday at the Heminger Center in Tiffin, Ohio. Events for the meet were not scored.
Junior Aedin Brennan set two of Denison's three school records on Saturday in Tiffin, while freshman jumper Hannah Hall was responsible for the third. In the preliminaries of the 60-meter hurdles, Brennan posted a time of 9.47 which surpassed the previous school mark of 9.53 set by Melanie Cluss in 2003. The junior finished fourth in the finals with a time of 9.58. Freshman Jessica Nix took sixth in the event with a time of 10.39. Nix's fastest time came in the prelims at 10.38.
Brennan's second school-record performance came in the long jump where she bested her previous mark by an inch and a half. The junior won the long jump with a leap of 17'7.00". Sophomore Anne Lee was seventh in the event with a mark of 15'8.25". The duo of Brennan and Lee also occupied the top two spots in the triple jump with leaps of 36'11.50" and 34'6.25", respectively.
In her first-collegiate competition, Hall set a school record in the high jump after clearing 5'5". The freshman's second-place performance surpassed Katherine Krulia's previous school mark by two inches. Nix took fourth in the event after clearing 4'7". Freshman pole vaulter Allison Pineault finished second after clearing 8'6.25", which landed her ninth on the school's top performer's list.
In the shot put, freshman Arlesha Cospy placed fourth with a toss of 38'6.25". Brennan took seventh (36'6.25"), while Lauren Marino (29'6.50") and Rebecca Fritch (28'7.75") finished 12th and 13th, respectively. Fritch and Cospy also competed in the weight throw. Fritch finished 12th with a toss of 33'10.25", while Cospy was 14th with a mark of 32'3.00". Cospy's performances in both the shot put and weight throw moved her into second on the school's top performer's lists.
The Big Red returns to action on January 24 when they host the annual Denison Lid-Lifter at the Mitchell Fieldhouse in Granville, Ohio.
