The Big Red women's track & field squad scored 36 points en route to a seventh-place finish at the annual All-Ohio Championship hosted by Otterbein University on Saturday in Westerville, Ohio.
Junior Aedin Brennan scored 18 points and set one school record to pace Denison. Brennan won the triple jump with a combined leap of 37'11.25". That mark surpassed her previous school record jump of 37'1" set at last year's North Coast Athletic Conference Championship. In addition to her triple jump victory, the junior also finished second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 59.31. In her final event, the long jump, Brennan placed 10th with a jump of 16'5.75".
Other individual scorers were freshmen Arlesha Cospy and Hannah Hall, and senior Abbi Boss. Cospy finished sixth in the 16-athlete field with a personal-best toss of 40'2.75", while her classmate, Hall, cleared 4'10.25" to place eighth in the high jump. Boss, the reigning NCAC Distance Runner of the Week, also took eighth in the 800-meter run after crossing the line in 2:25.07.
DU's first points of the afternoon came in the distance medley relay where Kate Benson, Olivia Ireland, Phoebe Osterhout and Boss combined for a time of 12:50.51. That time landed the foursome in fourth out of nine relay teams.
Mount Union won the team title with 127.5 points, while Ohio Wesleyan placed second with 111 tallies. Third went to the host Cardiansl (79), while Baldwin Wallace (68.5) and Ohio Northern (44) rounded out the top-five spots in the standings.
Denison returns to action next weekend at the Kenyon College Classic in Gambier, Ohio.
