Denison senior Aedin Brennan will make her fourth trip to the NCAA Division III Indoor Championship after qualifying in both the pentathlon and the triple jump. This year, Brennan will be joined by freshman teammate Ajai Brooks who will be making her first appearance in the national spotlight.
Coming off her first-ever national championship in the heptathlon last year, Brennan boasts the best pentathlon score heading into this year's national event. The senior posted a North Coast Athletic Conference and school record score of 3,638 points en route to capturing her fourth-consecutive NCAC pentathlon title two weeks ago at the NCAC Combined Events Championship.
In addition to qualifying for the pentathlon, Brennan will also compete in the triple jump at the NCAA Indoor Championship for the second-straight season. After finishing ninth in the event a season ago, the Fairport, N.Y. native enters the weekend seeded fifth after posting a school-record mark of 38'11" at the All-Ohio Championship on Feb. 13.
Brooks will be making her nationals debut as part of the 17-person 200-meter dash field. The Washington, D.C. native enters the NCAA Championship event ranked 11th in the event with a personal-record time of 25.38 which she achieved at last weekend's NCAC meet.
Brennan will begin competition on Friday at 10:30 a.m. with the pentathlon's first event, the 60-meter hurdles. Brooks will run the preliminaries of the 200 dash at 5:05 p.m. on Friday. Brennan will return to the Bear Athletic Center on Saturday to take part in the triple jump at 1:30 p.m. The finals of the 200 will be run at 4:15 pm on Saturday.
